Do you know someone who is a Champion for Peace? A person who embodies and encourages cooperation, mutual respect, and justice, and creates a safe environment in which people can flourish. This is your chance to acknowledge and celebrate them!

 

In a world where peace is the foundation of progress and harmony, we invite you to recognize and celebrate the Peace Heroes in your community. Peace is not a singular state but a multi-layered journey encompassing inner calm, interpersonal harmony, and societal reconciliation.

 

Peacemakers demonstrate remarkable character strengths such as kindness, empathy, respect, courage, and resilience while fostering understanding and resolving conflicts at various levels. By nominating individuals who embody these qualities, you contribute to a culture of peace that uplifts and inspires. Let us honour those who, through their actions and spirit, create a more compassionate and peaceful society for us all.

Nominate the Hidden Heroes in your life who consistently show their character strengths by their actions, words, or deeds. We are all unique, we each possess 24 character strengths, but we do so to varying degrees. Character strengths are universal across cultures and nationalities. They are the things we do when no one is looking.

Nomination Guidelines

  1. Nominees must be citizens or residents of The Bahamas.

  2. Nominees can be individuals, groups, or organizations, active in The Bahamas.

  3. Select the most appropriate nomination category – Community or Corporate.

  4. Corporate nominees must be nominated by a colleague, management, HR manager.

  5. You may submit more than one nominee.

  6. Previous Hidden Hero Champions, Elected officials, PACE Board members and their immediate families are not eligible for nomination.

  7. Nominations must be submitted online by using the form below.

  8. Deadline for Submission:  September 30th.

  9. Follow us on social media.

  10. Winners will be announced on Wednesday 16th October, Character Day.

Tell us about your nominee: Review the judging criteria below and then tell us about your nominee: Let us know how, and how long you have known the nominee. Describe why your nominee is a Hidden Hero and what makes them outstanding. Please share examples of their character strengths, e.g., resilience, courage, perseverance kindness, humility, optimism etc. Describe how your hidden hero demonstrates their character strengths as a Champion for Peace.

Judging Criteria

All nominees will be reviewed by an independent selection committee using the following criteria.

  • The nominee is not well-known by the public.

  • The nominee demonstrates ‘good’ or ‘strong’ character: Their character strengths are described, and supported by examples of their actions, words, and behaviour.

  • The nominee regularly impacts those around them in positive ways e.g., is a role model, inspires and motivates others.

 

The judging panel will:

●      Assess each nominee against the criteria

●      Decide on finalists and determine which nominees will be showcased for each category

●      Finalists will be interviewed and featured on our social media pages

 

The decision of the judging panel is final.
